Here's the situation: I am moving in with my partner, and my room in my current house will be available!!!
OK WHERE? UDist, Seattle, WA
HOW MUCH FOR? $800/mth plus utilities, which are usually about $80-100/mth. Total move-in costs are first month's rent, last month's rent, and a deposit, amounting to $2050 (800+800+450).
WOW THAT'S EXPENSIVE! For Seattle, this close to the link and in a room this big? Not really. Also: there will be no background check, no app fee, and no need to verify your income. We don't care how much money you make, or if you have a steady job, or if you have a job at all--as long as you pay rent and utilities each month.
WHEN? Likely, I'll be moving out Feb 1, but I can be flexible. If you need the room a month earlier or a month later, please feel free to reach out anyway and I'd be happy to see if we can work something out.
ABOUT THE DAMN room: The room has wood floors and off-white walls and yellow doors. It's about the size of a large studio. There are two large windows with a decent view. It's on the top floor of the house, and shares a bathroom with three other rooms/occupants (but I've never had issues with bathroom availability, tbh). There's a nice-sized closet. There are some furniture items that you have the option of keeping with the room: a wooden bookcase, a mini-fridge, a desk, and a reading chair. If you don't want these things, no worries--I can take them with me or donate them.
ABOUT THE DAMN house: T4T!!!! All roommates are trans/queer, and you should be, too! The house is a former punk venue house. Roommates still occasionally host smaller events here, and you are welcome to do the same. There's a stage and lots of sitting/communal space, and plenty of people who regularly socialize in the common areas. The main floor includes the large living room, dining room, our small kitchen, and an additional bathroom. There's a basement with a work area for arts & crafts, a bedroom, a space for couch surfers, and our washer/dryer. There's a big backyard and a good front porch for nighttime cigarettes. There are four other roommates who live in the downstairs areas of the house, for a total of 7 roommates + you. Don't be daunted! We do have a band that practices here, but everyone is very respectful and honors quiet hours. It's very rare that everyone is home at once. You must be okay with couch surfers, messes, art projects, oodles of new trans people you've never met before, and a cat! There is a lovely cat named Dog who lives here. If you let her, she will occasionally snuggle with you in your room or on the couch or wherever.
ABOUT YOU!!! You need to identify as trans and be 21+. No cats or dogs, sorry (though therians, dogboys/doggirls, catboys/catgirls are VERY welcome)! You are a flexible, kind, generous, and patient person who likes to have a lot of fun! You're dedicated to thinking and acting deeply for social justice and equity. You are an artist or creative of some kind. You're invested in the punk community or you're at least curious about it. Neurodivergent? Baggy pants? Dumpster diver? Zinester? Amateur glassblower? Well-meaning inventor? We love it. We wanna meet you. Previous experience living with others is preferred, since there are so many folks living in this house < 3
ABOUT US!!! We are a diverse community of artists and creatives. Some roommates make art for a living and vend at various events around Seattle. There will always be an art project or a something-project hanging around in the communal spaces. We love skillshares! Bring your own talents to our table. We are NOT a co-op, but we are deeply dedicated to supporting our house and communities in whatever ways we can. We have a groupchat and regularly communicate with one another. This is a house of friends and people who wanna be friends.
